Mutua, Mozambique & Lynn, Massachusetts, USA
“Resonate”
Human communication travels at unprecedented speed in today’s world. Ideas and culture can be shared, sent, and returned. With this idea in mind, kids in Lynn, Massachusetts, USA have been connecting with kids in Mutua, Sofala, Mozambique through video correspondence. While their realities are worlds apart, more than 12,000 kilometers, their appreciation of music, sports, and cultures resonates across oceans.
Huge thank you to artist Kevin Ledo, artist Young Jarus, film maker Emad Rashidi, The US Embassy in Mozambique and all those volunteers who helped create this One Blue Sky project during such difficult times.

LYNN
As people pass through downtown Lynn, Massachusetts a new mural painted by Kevin Ledo and a group of local youth resonates with a universal human love of music, sports, and culture. A boy from the YMCA metro north wearing a hometown sports jersey is illuminated by a colorful background from a Mozambican textile pattern. The pattern echoes a cultural connection and new friendship the children in Lynn have forged with a group of children across the planet in Mutua, Mozambique.

MUTUA
A group of children in Mutua, Mozambique exchanged video with a group of children in Massachusetts, USA, almost 13,000 km away from one another! In their videos they shared aspects of their lives from music and games to food they grow and eat. In rural areas of Mozambique children often help in the mashambas (gardens) that produce food for their community. Children in Lynn, Massachusetts also grow food at their local YMCA . While the growing seasons and foods in the two locations are quite different, surprisingly some are the same. After creating a vendiagram of foods, the children in Mutua painted a giant collaborative garden encompassing all the foods in both locations. Inside the massive garden Young Jarus painted two students from the Mutua Education Center , who have a particularly impressive garden both in the mural and in real life!
